LTI 1.3 must first be set up in your respective LMS through the following articles/guides: LTI 1.3 Vocareum Course Configuration and LTI 1.3 Setup Guide For Canvas

Through LTI 1.3, Instructors could be made eligible to create Vocareum Course(s) for new LMS courses.

In order to allow instructors within your organization to create a Vocareum course, within Vocareum, navigate to your Organization Settings (as an Organization Admin) and under the 'LTI' section, enable the option 'Allow Instructor Course Creation via LTI 1.3' as shown below.

Now, within your LMS (i.e. Canvas, Brightspace, etc.), accessing Vocareum via the Basic Launch Tool will take the instructor to the 'Course Creation/Binding Page'. (ensure that Vocareum content hasn't already been accessed via the LMS course, otherwise, it'll lead straight to the Vocareum content that the LMS course is already associated with).

Brightspace

Inserting the 'Basic Launch' tool as content via 'Existing Activities' > 'External Learning Tools' then selecting the Vocareum 'Basic Launch' tool/link will create Content that, when clicked, redirects the instructor to the 'Course Creation/Binding Page'.

Canvas

For Canvas, simply accessing Vocareum through the 'Course Navigation' menu item will take the instructor to the 'Course Creation/Binding Page'.

  • Create New Course: Selecting this option will take the instructor to the Course Creation Page where the instructor can modify different Course settings before creating the page.

  • Bind Existing Course: Selecting this option will take the instructor to the Course Selection Tool where a list existing Vocareum Course(s) is presented and could be selected and associated with the LMS course. (Only courses that the accessing instructor already holds an 'Instructor' role in will be displayed).

Once a course is created/binded, it can now be accessed through the same link/content that previously redirected to the Course Creation/Binding Page.
